KBR's Advancements in Low-Carbon Ammonia Solutions Drive Growth

Since 1943, KBR has established itself as a leader in the ammonia industry, having licensed, engineered, and constructed over 250 grassroots ammonia plants worldwide, capturing about 50% of the market share for licensed capacity. The company’s ongoing commitment to reducing emissions, diversifying products, enhancing energy efficiency, and developing sustainable technologies has significantly boosted its performance.

To further expand its low-carbon ammonia offerings amid the global energy transition, KBR has engaged in multiple contracts. Recently, its Purifier ammonia technology was chosen to support Wuhuan Engineering Co. Ltd. in the expansion of El Nasr Company’s Intermediate Chemicals' (NCIC) fertilizer complex in Egypt.

In January, KBR’s blue ammonia technology secured a major commercial-scale clean ammonia production and export project in the U.S. Gulf Coast. This project, backed by Tokyo-based INPEX Corporation and Oklahoma City-based LSB Industries, aims to capture carbon while maximizing production yield.

The demand for KBR’s technologies in various sectors—such as ammonia for food production, olefins for non-single-use plastics, refining for product diversification, and greener solutions to meet stringent environmental standards—has been robust. The company’s strategic shift towards IP-enabled maintenance is gaining momentum, and its advisory portfolio is witnessing increased activity, particularly in energy transition initiatives.

KBR’s growth is fueled by the rising global emphasis on national security, energy security, energy transition, and climate change. The company continues to benefit from high-end and differentiated government business projects, strong margin performance, and its expertise in technology and consulting services.

KBR's relentless pursuit of emission reduction, product diversification, energy efficiency improvement, and the implementation of sustainable technologies underscores its strong market position and growth trajectory.
